Dates and Time

Normally the third Thursday of every month starting at 7PM EST.
Each session runs for 1.5 hours.

Use this resource to find your time zone.

(1) We log on together and check in on how we are doing + share writing goals.

(2) You choose how to spend your time:

Write. Don't worry about time! We'll track for you.
Hop into a break out room. Ask any question related to academic writing or career and get expert advice and/or feedback. Dr. Maggie Huerta will be there live to facilitate and provide professional coaching guidance and insight.

(3) We close by sharing how our writing/coaching time went (if you want to share, of course).

Important: No question is too "dumb", small, or trivial!

We are here to support each other in our academic writing success.
If the group is small enough, we can even do writing feedback session(s), which are super helpful.
Example questions from past coaching sessions:
- How do you get motivated to write?
- What strategies can I use to get unstuck in my writing process?
- What resources or ideas do you have for writing different parts of a research manuscript especially abstracts, intros, lit reviews, discussions?
- Do you have any tips about submitting manuscripts?
- How should I deal with reviewer feedback?
- Do you have tips about how to go about looking for an academic position or for going up for promotion and tenure?

You'll enter a supportive space to focus on your writing, career, and research goals and needs.
You’ll be motivated to get your writing and research done alongside others and make progress toward your academic career goals! (Need we say more?)
You’ll be able to ask questions, listen, and/or share ideas about how to handle common academic issues/questions.
You’ll meet fabulous people who are part of the Real Academics community.
You’ll be able to conveniently log in from any location since it the coaching sessions are virtual (write in your PJ’s – we don’t mind!)
