5 Interesting Coaching Facts
(1) Did you know that elite performers have coaches? And, these experts are not just in the fields of sports and business or acting, but also in academia.
(2) In case you are wondering...dissertation advisors and department chairs often support their students or faculty in using coaching services. If this concept is new to you, read more below to educate yourself on coaching (hey, we had to learn, too).
(3) Elite performers can be creative in their funding. We've had students get funding for coaching and faculty use start-up funds/grants pay for coaching as professional development. Or, people budget and pay out of pocket, just like budgeting for a subscription service or insurance (though we like to think we're slightly more fun/valuable -- or try to be, anyway!).
(5) We've coached students and faculty from a diversity of institutions including:
Texas A&M University, University of Bath, University of Houston, Liberty University, University of Nevada Las Vegas, The University of New Mexico, University of Virginia
How Coaching Works
What Coaching Looks Like
You talk and we listen and prompt with questions.
Your goals are prioritized and we work to help you meet them.
You are in charge of your decisions and we provide personalized support, resources, and feedback as needed.
Expectations
Coaching is a team effort and requires commitment on both our ends.
On your end the commitment means:
(1) Showing up for our sessions and be ready to share.
(2) Believing you can meet your goals.
(3) Completing your homework as an investment in yourself.
On our end, the commitment means:
(1) Showing up for our sessions and being ready to listen.
(2) Asking questions/providing resources to help move you forward.
(3) Holding you accountable to assigned session homework without judgment.
Important: We do not do the writing or research for you, but we are here to provide something better: A space in which you are investing in your personal development and future.
